Nate’s Rogue guide training

May 28-31st 2023

Our first training session will take place on the Wild & Scenic Rogue River on May 28-31st, 2023. Our second session takes place on the Lower Deschutes River, May 21st-23rd. We recommend attending both courses to gain experience in two very different settings.

We require a $1475 course fee that includes boaters passes, transport, rafting gear, food and an invaluable volume of knowledge. These two trips that start your training as a river guide are just the beginning of a pursuit that myself and my close friends find to be a particularly rewarding way of life. This occupation is a constant learning challenge that is wildly fulfilling.

Top trainees who complete both training courses will be offered opportunities to join our team! Training and working with us will provide you with in depth experience to foster your growth in becoming a river guide.

Nate’s Rogue Adventures is a small rafting company that has permits on the Lower Deschutes and the Wild & Scenic Rogue River. We are a family owned and operated business that is intimate and made up of friends. We strive to provide high quality trips and create experiences in nature our guests will remember forever.

Gear boat training opportunity

This series starts out with a three-day raft/camp trip on the Deschutes river. All of our mult-iday trips begin with packing the night before at our outfitting location in Bend. Our returning guides will educate and facilitate training the culture of service and knowledge that we at NRA strive for. As with any guide training there will be a broad range of experienced people that will attend. No matter how experienced you are, it is in your interest to learn how we run the river so as to increase your knowledge and ultimate value as a guide.

For example, a ten year experienced guide would benefit from joining this trip because his/her wages would be significantly better knowing our program.

There will be education about expectations of the role of guide on the river working for Nate’s Rogue Adventures.

There will be much information available about the permitting system, governing agencies, proper practices at boat ramps, camps, roads, and what is appropriate on the water and with our guests.
